DevOps Engineer

A fully remote contract role supporting a team that deploys and maintains an established cross-domain system built on an event-driven microservices architecture with containerised services. The work suits an experienced engineer who is comfortable in a managed service environment and wants to build on their DevOps skills with modern tooling. The organisation works on secure, highly available systems for a customer, with a strong focus on monitoring, reliability and consistent deployments. The post is a rolling three-month engagement, outside IR35, with a day rate stated in the listing.

What you'll do

• Work with feature development teams to promote new component versions into production efficiently
• Maintain a continuous deployment pipeline and apply configuration management for consistent deployments
• Monitor system availability and service level objectives using real-time tools and metrics
• Respond to alerts and customer incidents, taking preventive or remedial action
• Add new metrics and alerts to pre-empt issues and improve performance
• Automate manual operations to reduce operational burden

What you need

• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration such as Kubernetes, OpenShift or Docker Swarm
• Experience maintaining CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
• Linux command line, administration and shell scripting
• Working knowledge of AWS and network security protocols
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or InfluxDB
