DevOps Engineer (Distributed Systems Testing)

A remote, worldwide DevOps role in a distributed systems testing team at a technology organisation that builds privacy-focused, decentralised tools and open-source projects. The team evaluates how large peer-to-peer and blockchain-style systems perform and stay reliable at scale, using large lab deployments and protocol modelling scripts. The role suits an engineer who enjoys Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure and observability, and who wants to work closely with researchers and developers to make experiments reproducible and insightful. What you'll do

• Design, configure and optimise Kubernetes clusters to support large-scale peer-to-peer experiments and benchmarks
• Improve cluster scalability and resource utilisation for increasingly complex deployments
• Set up and maintain monitoring, logging and observability stacks
• Automate infrastructure and deployment workflows to improve reliability
• Work with researchers and engineers to make experiment workflows and analysis easier and reproducible
• Troubleshoot, profile and tune distributed workloads, and help debug complex issues in distributed systems

What you need

• Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in production or research settings
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, Linux systems and networking
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or similar
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Helm
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, ideally Python
• Excellent written and conversational communication skills
