Healthcare Market Access Counsel (Remote - US only)

Candidates must be based in the US and hold an active US bar membership. A publicly traded diagnostics company focused on cancer care is hiring a senior in-house lawyer to advise its market access, reimbursement, and commercial teams. The role centers on payer contracting, coverage, and reimbursement strategy for its diagnostic tests. The lawyer will work with senior business leaders and cross-functional partners to manage legal risk while supporting patient access to new diagnostic solutions.

What you'll do

• Lead legal strategy and senior-level counsel on payer contracting, reimbursement, coverage, and broader market access matters.
• Independently lead drafting and negotiation of complex agreements with commercial insurers and managed care organizations.
• Advise on reimbursement and appeals strategies, coverage disputes, and payer policy challenges together with market access and commercial teams.
• Advise on federal and state healthcare laws affecting billing, coding, reimbursement, and coverage, including monitoring changes such as PAMA and state biomarker coverage laws.
• Build playbooks, contracting positions, templates, and training that make payer contracting and reimbursement work more consistent and efficient.
• Partner with Legal and Compliance leadership on high-risk matters and provide subject-matter guidance across the organization.

What you need

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in the US.
• At least 5 years of relevant legal experience in healthcare law, market access, or payer contracting.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts with private payors, health plans, or managed care organizations.
• Strong understanding of US healthcare reimbursement and coding, including commercial insurance, managed care, MolDx, AMA CPT codes, and the CLFS.
• Demonstrated experience with appeals strategies, coverage disputes, or reimbursement challenges.
• Ability to turn complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, practical advice for business partners.
