Infrastructure / Platform Engineer (Remote - Australia or New Zealand)

A small, fast-growing AI company serving developers and businesses worldwide is hiring an Infrastructure / Platform Engineer to own its cloud infrastructure and model inference systems. The team is split across the UK and India and is extending production support coverage into Australian and New Zealand hours. The role suits someone who wants real ownership, makes independent technical calls, and looks for ways to make the platform faster and cheaper to run.

What you'll do

• Build, manage, and scale production infrastructure across Google Cloud and GPU cloud providers using Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
• Profile and improve inference latency, throughput, GPU utilisation, and infrastructure cost through experimentation.
• Find bottlenecks in how models are built, deployed, and served, and implement the fixes.
• Monitor critical systems, respond to incidents, and keep customer-facing services reliable outside UK working hours.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and observability.
• Support secure infrastructure practices and enterprise deployment requirements.

What you need

• Solid experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure, ideally for applications with heavy user traffic.
• Hands-on experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Python.
• Experience with CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and production incident response.
• Prior participation in on-call rotations or ownership of production incidents.
• Track record of identifying bottlenecks and optimising production systems with minimal supervision.
• Must be based in Australia or New Zealand and available for agreed support hours that overlap with UK and India teams.
