A cybersecurity value-added reseller and services firm serving large enterprises and U.S. government agencies is hiring a Load Balancer / WAF Engineer for its Network Security and PKI practice. The role focuses on cloud-delivered DDoS protection, web application firewalls, and application delivery for enterprise and managed service clients. You will help design resilient, high-performance traffic paths while working directly with clients and internal teams.
What you'll do
- Design, deploy and operate cloud WAF, DDoS mitigation, bot protection and CDN configurations on platforms such as Cloudflare and Akamai.
- Build and maintain custom rules, including rate limits, transform rules and traffic filtering logic, to enforce security policy and optimize traffic.
- Tune latency, availability, global routing and failover across application delivery setups.
- Support incident response for DDoS events and WAF bypass attempts.
- Run WAF and edge security assessments, and help migrate or translate on-premises F5 logic into cloud WAF equivalents.
- Write clear configuration documentation and operational runbooks for client handoffs and internal support teams.
What you need
- 2 to 4 years of experience managing cloud WAF or DDoS platforms in an enterprise environment.
- Hands-on depth with Cloudflare and/or Akamai edge protection services.
- Experience writing page rules, rate limiting policies or traffic filtering logic.
- Solid grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, load balancing, NAT and routing.
- Practical experience with on-premises application delivery controllers such as F5 BIG-IP, including iRules, SSL offloading and WAF modules.
- Strong troubleshooting and written communication skills.
