Network Security Engineer, Fortinet (Remote - US only)

Candidates must already be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer; no visa sponsorship is offered. Up to 25% travel may be required. This is a remote role with a cybersecurity services firm that works exclusively in information security and serves large enterprises and government agencies. You will join a network security and certificate/PKI practice that designs, deploys and runs next-generation firewall, VPN, SD-WAN and secure remote access solutions for managed service and consulting clients. The team emphasizes well-documented, repeatable operations and zero trust segmentation for clients in regulated industries.

What you'll do

• Design, implement and support Fortinet-based security solutions across FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiSwitch platforms.
• Build and maintain firewall policies, IPSec and SSL VPNs, SD-WAN configurations and UTM security profiles.
• Use centralized management tools to deploy policy across multiple firewalls and clients.
• Analyze logs and events, produce reports, and run routine health checks, upgrades and policy audits.
• Troubleshoot network and security issues across multiple client environments, including switching, VLANs, and OSPF/BGP routing.
• Produce clear configuration records, diagrams and standard operating procedures, and advise clients on security best practices.

What you need

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Fortinet security products.
• Solid grasp of core networking: subnetting, NAT, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), switching and VLANs.
• Experience creating firewall policies, security profiles and VPN configurations.
• Basic Fortinet certification (NSE 4 or higher preferred) is required before hire.
• Strong troubleshooting, written and verbal communication skills, and comfort using AI tools to work more efficiently.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
