Manager, Risk, Controls & Compliance

This is a senior risk and assurance role based in Lagos, Nigeria, for an experienced professional who wants to strengthen how an energy and utilities organisation manages risk, internal controls and regulatory obligations. The position suits someone with a background in risk management, controls testing or compliance, ideally with exposure to large professional services firms, who can advise senior leaders and board-level committees and turn findings into practical improvements that support sound business decisions.

What you'll do

• Lead risk assessments and monitor risk appetite and exposure across the organisation
• Review and test internal controls and drive corrective actions
• Strengthen risk and control frameworks across business processes
• Monitor regulatory, legal, permit and compliance obligations
• Conduct investigations and provide actionable insights to management
• Lead reviews of IT general controls and other key control environments

What you need

• Seven or more years of relevant experience with Big Four exposure, or ten or more years in a similar role
• Strong experience in risk management, internal controls and compliance
• Proven experience engaging executive leadership and or board committees
• Strong understanding of Nigeria's regulatory environment
• Experience in energy, utilities, power, gas or related industries is highly desirable
• Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CRISC or CISA is an advantage; strong analytical, leadership and communication skills
