Platform Engineer - Compute (Remote - Worldwide)

Candidates can work from any country; the team works asynchronously across time zones. A fast-growing, remote-first developer infrastructure company is hiring a platform engineer for its Compute team. The team owns the systems that provision, scale and run the compute behind customer projects, serving a very large fleet of managed databases across multiple regions. The work centers on reliability, low latency and automation at high volume.

What you'll do

• Design and build systems that provision, scale and manage multi-region compute for customer projects.
• Own the orchestration lifecycle, including project creation, warm pools, autoscaling, resizing and resource optimization.
• Improve automation and observability across the compute stack to keep availability and performance high.
• Refine system architecture to lower cost while balancing security, reliability and performance.
• Work with other teams to offer compute as a core internal platform.
• Take part in on-call rotations, incident response and post-incident reviews, and resolve escalated support issues.

What you need

• Strong software engineering skills, with Go and TypeScript required.
• 5+ years of cloud infrastructure experience, with AWS required (compute, networking and storage); GCP or Azure is a plus.
• 3+ years building custom Kubernetes controllers and running large clusters (tens to hundreds of thousands of pods).
• Solid grasp of networking and multi-region infrastructure design.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL. Experience with QEMU, KVM or NAS is a plus.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Pulumi preferred; Terraform or CDK acceptable) and on-call for large production systems.
