Platform Engineer, Managed Postgres

A remote-first, open-source-focused developer platform company hiring a platform engineer to help build and run core services at large scale. The team is spread across the world, works asynchronously, and builds in public. The role suits engineers with deep distributed systems experience who enjoy designing reliable, cost-efficient infrastructure and sharing their work openly. Candidates comfortable with TypeScript or Go and modern cloud tooling will find the scope a good fit.

What you'll do

• Design and implement distributed services and APIs that power the platform
• Lead projects to improve scalability, reliability and cost efficiency of existing systems
• Build data-intensive workflows, background jobs and event-driven pipelines
• Own service SLIs/SLOs and take part in incident response and post-incident reviews
• Improve observability through metrics, logging, tracing and profiling
• Contribute to CI/CD and release processes, and write design documents, RFCs and tests

What you need

• Experience designing and operating distributed systems, including consistency, fault tolerance, partitioning, consensus and back pressure
• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Go, ideally 5+ years building production services
• Comfort with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and container orchestration
• Familiarity with multi-tenant architectures, API design, data modelling, networking and security best practices
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi preferred; Terraform or CDK also fine)
• Willingness to join on-call rotations for large-scale production systems
