Senior Backend Engineer

A senior backend role based in Bangalore, India, on a high-scale global software platform. The work covers designing and shipping complex server-side features, shaping architecture and technical direction, and raising engineering standards across the team. The team works remote-first and asynchronously, collaborating closely with product, frontend, infrastructure, data and security colleagues. What you'll do

• Design and ship moderate to complex backend features with minimal guidance
• Choose sensible architecture between modular monolith, shared components and independent services
• Define backend standards for style, testing, APIs and operational readiness
• Mentor associate and intermediate engineers through code and design reviews
• Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability issues at scale
• Take part in incident response and act as technical owner where appropriate

What you need

• Strong command of backend architecture, APIs, data systems and performance tuning
• Proficiency in modern backend languages and a solid grasp of systems programming
• Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries and migration-safe architectures
• Ability to lead through influence and clear written communication
• Proven experience building or operating agentic AI systems in production
• Advantageous: distributed systems, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL or ClickHouse performance, event-driven systems, open-source contributions
