Senior DevOps Engineer (Remote - Worldwide)
Some team members may also work from an office. A fast-growing B2B SaaS company serving mobile app developers is looking for a senior DevOps engineer to take full ownership of its self-managed infrastructure. The platform runs on a mix of self-hosted virtualization and storage across several hosting providers and bare metal, alongside workloads in AWS and GCP. The team currently depends heavily on one engineer, so this role is about building a platform that is owned, documented and cost-efficient.
What you'll do
- Own the virtualization and distributed storage platform end to end, covering capacity planning, upgrades, performance tuning and incident response.
- Operate infrastructure across bare metal and hosting providers alongside public cloud workloads.
- Find areas of overspend, right-size resources and show the savings in actual billing data.
- Lead the separation of development workloads into a dedicated cluster without downtime for production.
- Manage all infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible, ArgoCD and GitLab CI, with no manual production changes.
- Lead on-call, incident response, root cause analysis and the runbooks that follow. Support the data layer, including PostgreSQL, ClickHouse and Aerospike.
What you need
- 10+ years working with infrastructure, including physical hardware and not only managed cloud.
- 5+ years running Kubernetes and cloud platforms in production.
- Hands-on experience with bare metal and hosting providers such as OVH or Hetzner, plus AWS and/or GCP.
- Strong skills in Terraform, Ansible, ArgoCD and GitLab CI, with infrastructure defined in code by default.
- Real FinOps experience, with the ability to state infrastructure costs before and after changes.
- Comfortable carrying problems through to root cause and fix, including outside your formal scope, and direct in raising risks early.
- Nice to have: production experience with Proxmox and Ceph, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse or Aerospike at scale, splitting shared environments into isolated clusters, and building observability and on-call practice from scratch.
Open to applicants anywhere in the world.
