Forward Deployed Engineer, C-UAS (Remote - US only, TS/SCI Required)

U.S. citizenship required. Active TS/SCI clearance required. A software company that builds secure continuous delivery and data integration solutions for U.S. government and defense customers is hiring a forward deployed engineer. You will work directly with operators and program engineers running live workloads in defense environments, integrating counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) sensors and effectors into a modular data and software platform. Most of the work is remote, with periodic travel to customer sites and time spent inside SCIFs and other restricted environments.

What you'll do

• Deploy and harden a data platform in customer environments, including storage, streaming, data movement across air-gapped boundaries, and policy controls.
• Connect the platform to existing mission systems such as sensor arrays, computer-vision-enabled interceptors, and other C-UAS solutions.
• Build and operate data pipelines that move information across classification boundaries, including ingestion, transformation, cataloging, and packaging, with reliable behavior under disconnected conditions.
• Own initial day-2 operations: capacity, performance, backup and restore, observability, incident response, and upgrades, then hand ownership to the customer's operations team.
• Produce accreditation evidence such as STIG results, cATO documentation, and FIPS notes to support security officers in IL4/IL5 environments.
• Write runbooks, architecture documentation, and postmortems, and mentor junior data engineers on technical design and problem-solving.

What you need

• U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance.
• Production experience with tactical edge or air-gapped systems, including TAK Server administration and ATAK/WinTAK integration.
• Hands-on experience with lakehouse table formats, object storage, PostgreSQL, and query engines, plus streaming tools such as Kafka and change data capture.
• Production Kubernetes experience (operators, CRDs, storage, networking), along with infrastructure as code and GitOps practices.
• Experience building, monitoring, and recovering data pipelines with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Argo Workflows.
• Strong SQL skills, solid Linux, networking, TLS and secrets-management fundamentals, and the ability to communicate with operators and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel roughly 10% to 25% of the time, including multi-day or multi-week on-site work in restricted facilities.
