Senior Engineering Manager (Remote, Spain)

This is a senior individual contributor architecture role within a small central architecture team at a global cloud communications company. The team supports distributed engineering groups by setting shared patterns and direction so teams can make sound decisions on their own. The role connects technical choices to business outcomes across product and platform boundaries. What you'll do

• Define and evolve architecture strategy, reference models and target states across a network-focused product area
• Lead cross-domain initiatives covering resilience, security, compliance, observability and developer experience
• Champion architecture governance, including architecture decision records and well-architected reviews
• Work with engineering and product leaders to turn business needs into scalable solutions
• Mentor engineers and architects and contribute to internal practice communities
• Promote effective use of AI-assisted engineering across design, coding, testing and documentation

What you need

• Proven experience in a senior architecture role with scope across multiple teams, products or shared platforms
• Track record of using architecture work to deliver measurable business value and reduce unnecessary cost
• Deep expertise in cloud-native and distributed systems on AWS
• Strong Java background, plus hands-on experience with microservices, Kubernetes, Kafka-style event-driven design, CI/CD, DevSecOps and infrastructure as code
• Strong experience with SaaS, API-based or developer-facing platforms; CPaaS or communications experience is a plus
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive decisions without formal authority, and to balance consistency with team autonomy in agile settings
