Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance (Remote - US only)

Applicants must live in the US and hold permanent US work authorization. No visa sponsorship. Candidates in Eastern or Central time zones are preferred; others in the US need substantial overlap with those hours. A mission-driven, open-source software company with a distributed team across several countries is hiring its most senior finance professional. This leader will own accounting, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, and finance operations while growing a small team. The company is moving from a single product toward subscriptions, enterprise offerings, and partner-led revenue, so the role carries real influence over controls, reporting, and decisions.

What you'll do

• Lead the finance function across accounting, FP&A, tax, treasury, and finance operations, and manage a senior staff accountant and a senior FP&A analyst.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, accounting policies, and internal controls.
• Direct revenue recognition for donations, subscriptions, enterprise deals, and partner arrangements, and set up reporting and controls for those arrangements.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and scenario analysis, and produce clear management reporting for non-finance leaders.
• Manage tax, audit, indirect tax, VAT/GST, and corporate filings with external advisers, and assess the finance and tax impact of new jurisdictions or entities.

What you need

• 15+ years of progressive finance experience across accounting, FP&A, and finance operations.
• Significant controllership experience with U.S. GAAP reporting, close processes, internal controls, and revenue recognition.
• 5+ years of people management in a finance or accounting team.
• Hands-on experience with subscription, SaaS, digital-product, or enterprise revenue models, including merchant-of-record and payment platforms.
• Working knowledge of indirect tax and international VAT/GST, and experience coordinating obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial risks and trade-offs to senior leaders. Must be a US resident with permanent US work authorization.
