Senior Software Engineer, Browser Security (Remote, Germany)

A mission-driven technology company that builds open-source software used by people around the world is hiring a senior engineer for its security work on a widely used web browser. The team works on security features, hardening, and core browser internals across several operating systems. The role is fully remote and sits within a distributed engineering organization.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, test, and ship security and hardening features aimed at enterprise users
• Build privilege isolation and improve trust boundaries across the browser's architecture on multiple operating systems
• Strengthen core security mechanisms such as cryptographic protocols, WebPKI, and security-sensitive web APIs
• Investigate security issues across teams, identify root causes, and deliver durable, maintainable fixes
• Diagnose and resolve stability, correctness, performance, and memory problems in a large, multithreaded codebase

What you need

• At least 3 years of experience in low-level software engineering with strong C and/or C++ skills
• Solid grounding in security fundamentals
• Experience debugging multithreaded, cross-platform native applications, including memory and performance issues
• Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript); interest in or experience with Rust is a plus
• Ability to work within large, multi-language codebases
• Clear written and spoken communication skills for working with distributed teams
• Must be based in Germany
