Senior Software Engineer, Browser Security (Remote, Sweden)

A mission-driven, non-profit-backed technology company with a large global user base is hiring a senior engineer to strengthen security on its open-source web platform. You will work on low-level systems code in a large, complex, multi-language codebase used across several operating systems. The team values clear written communication and works across distributed locations.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, test and ship security and hardening features aimed at enterprise users
• Build privilege isolation and improve trust boundaries across the platform
• Improve core security mechanisms, such as cryptographic protocols, WebPKI and security-sensitive web APIs
• Investigate security issues across teams, find root causes and deliver robust, maintainable fixes
• Diagnose and resolve stability, correctness, performance and memory issues in a multithreaded environment

What you need

• At least 3 years of experience in low-level software engineering
• Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ and a solid grasp of security fundamentals
• Experience debugging multithreaded, cross-platform native applications, including memory and performance problems
• Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript); interest in or experience with Rust is a plus
• Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly in writing and in conversation with distributed teams
• Must be based in Sweden
