Senior Software Engineer (Remote, United Kingdom)

Fully remote, or from the company's London office near East Croydon station if preferred. A fast-scaling mobility technology company in the UK is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own a product area end to end. The team is small, so you will often work independently for weeks, shaping what gets built alongside product colleagues and the people who use the products. The stack is Kotlin and Spring Boot on the backend and TypeScript with Next.js and React on the front end, running on Google Cloud and Kubernetes. Prior Kotlin experience is not required.

What you'll do

• Take features from first ticket to production, including tests, and fix issues when they arise.
• Speak with product users and customers, and use what you learn to shape and reduce scope.
• Write acceptance criteria and review how features perform and are used after release.
• Maintain and extend an existing layered, domain-driven codebase in a consistent way.
• Use AI coding tools in daily work and take full responsibility for the quality of the code you ship.
• Join the on-call rota, review colleagues' pull requests, and provide design review.

What you need

• Have shipped production code end to end within the last 12 months and can describe what you built and how it performed after release.
• Have talked with real users or customers recently and can point to a decision that changed as a result.
• Test as you build, and can describe a bug you shipped and the test that would have caught it.
• Use AI coding agents in real work and can explain how you verify their output, including an example where the output was wrong.
• Comfortable working across the stack, with front-end experience in React or Next.js or solid API integration skills.
• Able to work independently for long periods and keep quality high without a peer reviewer. Must have the right to work in the UK.
