Senior Software Engineer, Security (Remote, Finland)

This is a senior engineering role on the security team of a mission-driven technology company that builds widely used open-source software for web browsing. The team works on hardening the browser's core security architecture and protecting users across several desktop operating systems. You will work in a distributed team and ship changes to a very large, complex native codebase used by hundreds of millions of people.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, test and ship security and hardening features, including features aimed at enterprise users
• Build privilege isolation and improve trust boundaries across multiple operating systems
• Strengthen core security mechanisms such as cryptographic protocols, WebPKI and security-sensitive web APIs
• Investigate security issues across teams, identify root causes and deliver robust, maintainable fixes
• Diagnose and resolve stability, correctness, performance and memory issues in a multithreaded environment

What you need

• At least 3 years of experience in low-level software engineering
• Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ and a solid grasp of security fundamentals
• Experience debugging multithreaded, cross-platform native applications, including memory and performance problems
• Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript); interest in or experience with Rust is a plus
• Comfortable working within large, multi-language codebases and with distributed teams
• Clear written and spoken communication of technical ideas
• Ability to work remotely from Finland
