Senior Software Engineer, Security (Remote, Netherlands)

Candidates must be based in the Netherlands. A mission-driven, open-source software company that builds products used by hundreds of millions of people is hiring a senior engineer to strengthen the security of its widely used web browser. The team works across multiple operating systems on privilege isolation, trust boundaries, and core security mechanisms. You will join a distributed, collaborative engineering group focused on making the internet better for people.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, test, and ship security and hardening features aimed at enterprise users
• Improve the browser's security architecture, including cryptographic protocols, WebPKI, and security-sensitive web APIs
• Build privilege isolation and move trust boundaries across supported operating systems
• Investigate security issues across teams, identify root causes, and deliver robust, maintainable fixes
• Diagnose and resolve stability, correctness, performance, and memory issues in a complex, multithreaded native codebase

What you need

• At least 3 years of experience in low-level software engineering
• Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ and a solid grasp of security fundamentals
• Experience debugging multithreaded, cross-platform native applications, including memory and performance problems
• Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript); interest in or experience with Rust is a plus
• Ability to work within large, multi-language codebases and communicate technical ideas clearly in writing and conversation
• Must be based in the Netherlands
