Senior Software Engineer, Security (Remote, Spain)

A mission-driven technology company that builds open-source software and works to keep the public web open, private and user-first is hiring a senior engineer for its security team. The role focuses on hardening a large, multithreaded, cross-platform native codebase used by hundreds of millions of people. You will work across teams on both proactive security features and reactive investigations. The team is distributed, so strong written communication is essential.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, test and ship security and hardening features aimed at enterprise users
• Improve core security mechanisms, including cryptographic protocols, WebPKI handling and security-sensitive web APIs
• Build privilege isolation and move trust boundaries across multiple operating systems
• Investigate security issues with other teams, find root causes and deliver robust, maintainable fixes
• Diagnose and resolve stability, correctness, performance and memory issues in complex native code

What you need

• At least 3 years of experience in low-level software engineering
• Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ and a solid grasp of security fundamentals
• Experience debugging multithreaded, cross-platform native applications, including memory and performance problems
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS and JavaScript; interest in or experience with Rust is a plus
• Clear written and verbal communication with distributed teams
• Must be located in Spain
