Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote - Germany)

A fast-growing audio AI company that builds text-to-speech reading tools used by tens of millions of people. The team works fully asynchronously across time zones and is building the data pipelines behind its model training and next-generation AI products. This role sits in the AI team and focuses on sourcing audio data and turning it into high-quality, large-scale training datasets.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines to bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems, optimizing for data quality, throughput and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to improve training datasets and support new model development.
• Own engineering projects from problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Self-directed, able to work independently in ambiguous environments, and based in Germany.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition or distributed data-processing systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, particularly GCP and Terraform.
• Familiarity with ML training data, dataset quality or audio processing.
