Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote, United Kingdom)

A fast-growing audio and AI company builds consumer reading tools that turn written content into speech. The team is fully distributed and works asynchronously across time zones. This engineering role sits in the AI team and focuses on building the data pipelines that feed model training and new AI products.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines that bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems, balancing data quality, throughput and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to refine training datasets and support next-generation models.
• Own engineering projects from initial problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.
• Scale data systems to handle very large volumes of data efficiently.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally including data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous settings.
• Must be based in the United Kingdom.
