Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote, Ireland)

This is a remote software engineering role on the AI team of a distributed audio and reading technology company with a large global user base. The team builds the large-scale data pipelines that feed model training and new AI products. You will work on sourcing audio data, processing it at scale, and improving dataset quality and cost, working closely with AI research scientists.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines to bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems with a focus on quality, throughput and cost.
• Partner with AI scientists to refine training datasets and support next-generation model development.
• Own engineering projects from problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.
• Based in Ireland and able to work remotely from there.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition, or distributed data-processing systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, particularly GCP and Terraform.
