Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote, Romania)

This is a fully distributed role with an AI-focused audio technology company that builds text-to-speech products used by tens of millions of people. You will join the AI team and build the data pipelines behind model training and new AI products. The company works asynchronously with no office, and the role offers real ownership over projects from start to finish.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines that bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems, focusing on data quality, throughput and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to improve training data and support next-generation model development.
• Own engineering projects from problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous settings.
• Must be based in Romania.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition or distributed data-processing systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, particularly GCP and Terraform.
