Platform Engineer (Visa Sponsorship - Lisbon, Portugal)

Hybrid role based in Lisbon, Portugal, with on-site work at the Lisbon office a minimum of 2 days per week. Visa sponsorship available. You will join the platform horizontal of a fast-growing, sustainable online marketplace with a global customer base and a large in-house engineering organisation. The platform team has grown beyond cloud management into a broader function covering reliability, developer experience, security and quality. You will help shape and deliver the long-term platform vision so product teams can ship quickly and safely.

What you'll do

• Build a self-service developer platform that hides infrastructure complexity and lets teams deploy, monitor and tune their own applications.
• Operate cloud-native infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters, improving performance, scalability and cost efficiency with FinOps practices.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows and reusable templates to speed up development and release cycles.
• Design for fault tolerance, disaster recovery and scaling so applications remain stable under changing load.
• Enhance the observability stack, monitor platform health and resolve incidents proactively.
• Partner with product teams to understand their needs and champion cloud-native best practices across the company.

What you need

• At least 5 years of production experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration and a major cloud platform (GCP, AWS or Azure).
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible and with automating CI/CD workflows.
• Experience using and maintaining observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or OpenTelemetry.
• A measured, incremental approach to change, strong ownership of platform issues, and a habit of reducing toil through automation.
• Strong written and spoken English, with an English-language CV and cover letter for applications.
• Ability to work from the Lisbon office at least 2 days per week, or to relocate to Portugal.
