Risk Analyst (Remote, South Africa)

The role is aligned to U.S. client business hours, with some flexibility for reporting cycles, audits and incident response. A recruitment firm is hiring on behalf of its client, a growing organization, for a Risk Analyst / Risk Manager. The person in this role will identify, assess, monitor and mitigate financial, operational, compliance and enterprise risks. The work includes building risk frameworks, reviewing emerging threats, strengthening internal controls and turning risk data into recommendations for leadership.

What you'll do

• Run enterprise-wide risk assessments covering financial, operational, compliance, market and cybersecurity risk, and keep risk registers, control matrices and remediation trackers current.
• Build and maintain quantitative risk models in SQL, Excel, Python, R or SAS, including stress testing, scenario and sensitivity analysis, regression and VaR work.
• Test internal controls, monitor incidents and exceptions in GRC platforms, and support governance committees with documentation.
• Prepare quarterly and annual compliance reports and audit-ready evidence under frameworks such as SOX, Basel III, GDPR, PCI-DSS or similar.
• Build dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau, Looker or Excel and present risk trends and mitigation options to executives.
• Work with Finance, Operations, Compliance, Legal, IT and Security to embed risk awareness into day-to-day processes.

What you need

• At least 3 years of experience in risk management, enterprise risk, compliance, audit or governance.
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
• Strong skills in SQL, Microsoft Excel and data analysis, plus experience with a GRC platform such as Archer, ServiceNow or LogicManager, or similar.
• Solid understanding of enterprise risk management, internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Experience producing executive dashboards and risk reports.
• Excellent written and verbal English, and the ability to work U.S. client business hours from South Africa.
