Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote - Worldwide)

The team is fully distributed and works asynchronously across time zones. A fast-growing consumer AI audio company with a fully distributed engineering team is hiring a software engineer to build the data pipelines behind its model training and new AI products. The role sits within the AI team and focuses on sourcing, processing and improving very large audio and text datasets. You will work closely with research scientists and own projects from initial problem discovery through to production.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines that bring them into training datasets.
• Design and improve large-scale data-processing systems, balancing data quality, throughput and cost.
• Partner with AI scientists to refine training datasets and support next-generation model development.
• Take ownership of engineering projects end to end, including ongoing improvement after launch.
• Operate production systems with a focus on reliability and efficiency.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and running production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous settings.
• Nice to have: web crawling or data acquisition, distributed data processing, GCP and Terraform, ML training data quality, or audio processing.
