Software Engineer, Mid-level (Remote - UK only)

Fully remote working is allowed, and an optional office is available in London. A tech-led, fast-growing company in the parking and urban mobility sector is hiring a mid-level software engineer. You will own product features from shaping through to release and ongoing support, working on enforcement, payment, permit and customer-facing applications used across a large national estate of car parks. The team is small and product-minded, and works with AI coding tools as part of day-to-day delivery.

What you'll do

• Take features from first ticket to production, including tests, release and fixing issues that arise afterwards.
• Talk with the people who use the products, and use what you learn to shape and reduce scope.
• Write acceptance criteria and check after release whether a feature was used and worked.
• Build within an existing layered, domain-driven codebase, keeping it consistent for future engineers.
• Work on the Kotlin backend and the Next.js and React front end, and take part in the on-call rota.
• Review colleagues' pull requests and accept review of your own work.

What you need

• Live and working in the UK, as the role is UK-only.
• Production experience within the last 12 months, in any language, with a clear account of what you built and what happened after release.
• A habit of writing tests as you build, and an example of a bug you shipped and the test that would have caught it.
• Experience using AI coding agents in real work, and a method for checking their output, including a time one got something wrong.
• Comfort working across the stack, with front-end experience in React or Next.js or solid work against an API contract.
• Willingness to be on call and take ownership of what you ship.
